Meet Peanut. She is one of the Zoo's golden lion tamarins, an endangered species found in the rainforests of South America.

Today, we're sharing Peanut’s story with you, because she needs your help.

Golden lion tamarins are active animals. So, when Peanut began to lose weight and became lethargic, her keepers knew something was wrong.

Testing revealed that Peanut has diabetes, so her keepers put her on a new diet – reducing the amount of sugar. When that didn’t work, Peanut had to be put on medication.

As you can imagine, this treatment for Peanut comes at a high price. This is especially true when Zoo animals, much like people, have sudden, unexpected medical needs.

Will you give a gift today to help care for all of our animals?

Your support is important to the needs of all the Zoo’s animals...especially an endangered species like Peanut.
