Stepping outside to play in the natural world is something many of us took for granted when we were growing up.  But our children and grandchildren have less time and opportunity to play outdoors now. And that means they are missing a wonderful opportunity for family fun and the opportunity for learning that comes from unstructured outdoor play.

Hasbro’s Our Big Backyard, set to open in the spring of 2012, will offer exhibits and activities designed to stimulate exploration and nature-play that engages interaction across generations and helps to foster a life-long appreciation for nature and wildlife, and the conservation and protection of both.   Once our fundraising campaign is successfully completed, construction will begin on a New England animal exhibit trail that will add river otters, lynx, wild turkeys, porcupines and owls to the Hasbro’s Our Big Backyard experience!!

The Backyard will be the ultimate play space, featuring three outdoor areas designed to allow children to actively learn by exploring and playing. It will be packed with things to touch, hear, smell and see, and there will always be something new for kids to find and learn.

There will also be the CVS All Kids Can Tree House, designed to be fully accessible so kids of all ages and physical abilities can find different activities to engage all of their senses.
