Educator's Guide to Zoo Programs & Field Trips

Roger Williams Park Zoo has long been a valued resource for science learning. As a 37-acre living classroom, we offer many opportunities for teachers and students to explore, discover, observe and apply real-world context to the lessons learned in school.

September through June groups will also receive 1 free adult chaperone admission per every 10 paid student (K-12th grade) admissions.

Booking Information
  • No deposit require to make your reservation
  • Payment is due in full on the day of your visit and groups are only charged for actual attendance.
  • Free parking for buses and cars.
  • Although we do not reserve rain dates, we will happily reschedule if necessary due to inclement weather – with no cancellation fee.
  • Average group visits range from 2.5 to 4 hours. If you plan to visit our gift shops or eat lunch, p[lease adjust your schedule accordingly.
  • Fridays in May and June are the busiest; for a more enjoyable visit, try coming earlier in the week.
  • Your group’s transportation reservations need to be made with bus companies prior to making the Zoo reservation.
  • Chaperones are required to remain with their students at all times while visiting the Zoo. For students in the first grade and under, we require one chaperon for every five students. For students second grade through high school, we require one chaperone to every ten students.

Single programs:
$110 September - June
$150 in July and August

For programs outside a 20-mile radius
of the zoo there will be an additional
charge as follows:
$15 for 20-34 miles
$35 for 35-54 miles
$55 for 55+ miles

We offer a 10% discount for facilities booking three programs in one day, or
a series of more than 3 programs. For
the health and safety of the animals,
we must limit class size to 30 children.

Pre-K through Middle School Rate - $8/student which includes admission to the zoo and the program (minimum of 15 paying students)

High School Rate - $13/student which includes admission to the zoo and the program (minimum of 15 paying students)

Groups of children in Pre-K through first grade will receive 1 free chaperon admission for every 5 students.

Groups of children in second grade through high school will recieve 1 free chaperon admission for every 10 students.

Additional chaperones are $10 each.
