Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular

The Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular is back October 5 through November 5 delighting audiences of all ages.  This year we will travel through time and visit with dinosaurs, explore the ice age, and peek into the ancient civilizations of Egypt and Rome.  As guests wander the Wetlands trail they will delight in the history of the Middle Ages, discover the New World, and be fascinated by major inventions like cars, planes, space travel, and the computer.  Infused throughout will be the art and music associated with each era.  Imagine the history of us all on over 5000 intricately carved pumpkins.  Mark your calendars - Tickets on-sale NOW!

NEW IN 2017: Experience the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride and see the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular from 115 feet above the earth. Riders will see out over Providence and into Narragansett Bay in comfortable side-by-side seats.  The Soaring Eagle Zip Ride is open every night during the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular weather permitting. Some restrictions apply.

  • Prime Nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday): Available for purchase ONLINE ONLY and timed ticket entry requires pre-registration. 
  • Value Nights (Monday through Thursday): Sold online and at Zoo admissions.
  • AAA Member Discount (Tuesdays): Available for purchase at Zoo admissions ONLY.

Please note: Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular is open rain or shine. In the case of light to moderate rain, the show will be open.  There will be no refunds or rescheduling.  

 

Boo at the Zoo - A Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular Family Overnight!

Saturday, October 21(4 spots left) & Saturday, October 28* (*SOLD OUT): Boo at the Zoo! A Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular Family Overnight (ages 6+)

Time:  6:30 pm - 10:00 am

Price:

  • Members:  $120 per parent/child pair; $60 per additional participant.
  • Non-members:  $130 per parent/child pair; $65 per additional participant.

The night begins with pizza and ice cream before educators engage you and your child(ren) in an owl pellet dissection, program animal encounters, and VIP access to the world famous Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular.  Set up your sleeping bags in the Meller-Danforth Education Center with popcorn and a movie.  You will need your zzzzs before waking up with the animals!  We provide a light breakfast before a morning Zoo tour.

Please note: There must be at least a 1:3 parent/child ratio. This program is not designed for adults without children
Important registration note: There are no refunds unless program is cancelled by the Zoo.
All requests to change the date of your program must be made at least 48 hours prior to the start of your scheduled program. Requests are not guaranteed and are dependent upon availability. A fee of $20 per program participant will be assessed when any change to your program date is made.

Spooky Zoo

Spooky Zoo is back, offering daytime outdoor autumn activities for the whole family.  Come trick-or-treat (while supplies last) with us beginning at 10:30 am on the Treat Trail by the red wolf exhibit. Kids and adults will enjoy a packed schedule of seasonal activities including: animal encounters, the annual elephant Pumpkin Stomp, photo booth fun, meet & greet with Star Wars characters (Saturday) and RI ComicCon (Sunday), sculpture making and more!

Please note: This event is free with Zoo admission and all children 12 and under dressed in costume get in for half price. All activities are weather permitting and while supplies last.

Preschool Adventures (Ages 3 - 5)
November 4, 2017 - 9:30am to February 9, 2018 - 9:30am
Event Information

These 90-minute programs focus on a special animal or area of the Zoo, and present opportunities for adult/child pairs to make discoveries together.  Programs include a lesson, activity, a craft, an up-close encounter with one of our education animals, and a walk to an exhibit. Please note: This program does not include direct interaction with exhibit animals.

Class Size: 12 max. One adult must accompany each child. We cannot accommodate additional adults or siblings due to space limitations.

Pricing:

  • Members: $14 per child/adult pair
  • Non-members: $42 per child/adult pair

Pre-registration is required and ends 48 hours prior to the program. Refunds are only given if the Zoo cancels the program. We must receive requests to transfer the date of your registration at least 48 hours in advance. If there are any changes to your registration, there is a $5 fee.

A minimum of five program participants is required to run a class. Participants will be notified one week before the scheduled class if a class has to be cancelled due to low enrollment, so enroll early!

Breakfast with the Moon Bears

Event Information

Marco Polo’s adventure brought him face to face with the exotic animals of the Silk Road, and so will yours!  Start by dining on a hot breakfast buffet of baked pastries, fresh fruit, fluffy scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, breakfast potatoes, orange juice, cranberry juice, coffee, and water.  After breakfast, you will join zookeepers that care for the animals of Marco Polo’s Adventure Trek in opening for the day; climb into the bear exhibit to prep it for their arrival, get up close with a camel, and see the snow leopards, red pandas, cranes and takin get their first enrichment of the day.

Please note: Capacity is limited to 25 participants. Breakfast with the Animals is rain or shine. Tickets are non-refundable. Ticket price includes a hot breakfast buffet, program, and admission to the Zoo post program. Participants age 15 and younger must be accompanied by a registered adult. Pre-registraion is required.

Zoo-Cation Day Camps

A day off from school opens up an opportunity to learn, explore, and make friends in a unique one-day camp only available at Roger Williams Park Zoo. Zoo-Cation one-day camps engage campers in a full day of crafts, hands-on and inquiry-driven activities, encounters with wild animal ambassadors, and a tour of the Zoo that includes an opportunity to feed the goats in the ALEX AND ANI Farmyard.
