At Roger Williams Park Zoo, we are always looking for ways to maximize the experience for our guests. That is why, this year, we are introducing new seasonal offerings to make every Zoo visit an adventure for the whole family. Offered daily during April school vacation (April 20 – 26), and then from July 1 – September 7
Test your climbing skills on our very own rock wall! Provided by Rock Spot Climbing, this four-sided rock wall has varying degrees of difficulty, from beginner to seasoned climbers, so anyone can try. The rock wall will be in the Wilderness Plaza – you can’t miss it!
Price: $5 for 1 climb, $10 for 3 climbs and $20 for 8 climbs (Must be age 3 or older to participate); Please note: Tickets for multiple climbs do not need to be used on the same day, and can be redeemed on another Zoo visit.
Waivers must be filled out prior to climbing the wall. Participants ages 17 and younger must have their waiver completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Click here to fill it out in advance online>
Offered daily from May 23 – September 7
Get up-close this summer with our seasonal camel rides! Experience these majestic animals like never before in a safe environment with experts on hand to lead you around a track while riding a trained camel. The camel rides are located adjacent to the Big Backyard.
Price: $6 per person (no age restrictions; all riders must be ticketed regardless of age)
Please note: The camel rides are not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
Flutterby: Butterflies in Bloom is back for its second and final season! This dazzling exhibit provides an immersive experience inside the Zoo’s beautifully landscaped greenhouse filled with hundreds of free-flying North American butterfly species. A delight for butterfly and gardening enthusiasts alike, this enchanting experience invites visitors to discover a deeper appreciation for some of our earth’s most imperiled species – butterflies, in bloom. The exhibit will be in the greenhouse right before the Big Backyard.
Price: $3 per person (no age restrictions; toddlers two and under enter for free)
Each one runs from 10am until 4:30pm, with last tickets sold at 4:15pm. The lines are closed off promptly at 4:30pm. Those in line before 4:30pm will be allowed to participate in the attraction.
Individual tickets can be purchased at the main admissions gates or at several booth locations throughout the Zoo as follows:
Camels: In the Beyond the Fence area opposite the swing set
Rock Climbing: The Wilderness Plaza
Sorry, the tickets are not refundable.
Waivers are required only for rock climbing. Waivers for participants ages 17 and younger must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian.

This policy varies based on the activity, as follows:
Camel Rides: For safety reasons, only the Zoo's professional photographer will be permitted to take pictures in the camel area.
Rock Wall: Photography will be allowed in the designated waiting area.
Butterflies: Photography is permitted in the exhibit.
