EASTERN ROSELLA
Platycereus eximius eximius

Look for these birds "Down Under"
in southeastern Australia.

We dwell in woodlands.

Vegetarianism is my bag, baby! Rosella's consume various seeds and berries. Also honey.

Check me out:
28-30 cm. Males and females are alike, but colors are duller in the female. Red head and white throat. Back is black and yellow. Yellow rump and belly.

When we feel frisky:
September through January. Lay nests in hole in trees, fallen timber, fence posts and old burrows. Clutch consists of four to nine white eggs.

Social behavior: Arboreal but often feeds on the ground. Single or in small flocks.

La vida locomotion: Rosella's move with swift undulating flight.

We're not going anywhere! Rosellas are very common and thriving, benefiting from the thinning out of heavy timber.
