[Madagascar] Tip:

A paradise in peril . . . located off the coast of Africa, Madagascar is a beautiful paradise home to many exotic species. But today the island is a paradise in peril — losing rainforests at an astounding rate. Due to excessive logging and firewood collection, only five percent of Madagascar's original rainforest remains.

One animal that has suffered from this habitat destruction is the lemur. Madagascar is the only place in the world where lemurs live. Over the past 100 years more than one half of all lemur species have vanished — just 22 species remain.

At our Madagascar exhibit you'll learn more about this island paradise and meet five species of this unique and highly endangered primate family.
