Updated Mask Policy

Updated Mask Policy

Tuesday, May 25, 2021
Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village will follow the Rhode Island Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s updated recommendations and guidelines regarding mask wearing.

The Zoo and Carousel Village will no longer require fully vaccinated visitors to wear a mask outdoors or indoors*. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated will be required to wear a mask when social distancing cannot be maintained outdoors and when entering all indoor locations.

*Please note: For the safety of the zoo’s free-roaming animals, ALL GUESTS will be required to wear a mask when entering the Faces of the Rainforest exhibit building.

Fully vaccinated staff will not be required to wear masks on grounds except when entering indoor animal areas, and the Animal Care Commissary.

As half of the zoo’s visitors are under 12 and unable to be vaccinated, the zoo urges all guests to be mindful of this and properly distance themselves from groups other than their own. The safety of the zoo’s visitors, staff, and animals remains top of mind.

Timed-entry ticket requirements currently remain in effect. Beginning June 5th, zoo members will no longer need timed-entry tickets. For more detailed information about the zoo’s mask policy, updated safety protocols and other FAQs, please visit rwpzoo.org/reopen.
