This bird is generally silent except when the male performs a courtship dis ales. The male sings while doing the display starting with a loud “st-st-ee-ee-ee-EE-EE-EE-wooo” and ending with “chif-chif-chif” from the sound of its wings rustling as the bird regains its original position after completing the display.
