Volunteer for Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular
Be a part of the Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular volunteer team! We need your support for our largest and most important community event and fundraiser. We wouldn’t be able to achieve the magic of the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular without the generosity of hundreds of volunteers and community members.
If you can support us this year, know that your generosity during this time could not be more valuable or appreciated! Questions? Email us at pumpkinvolunteer@rwpzoo.org
Thank you for supporting Roger Williams Park Zoo!

After completing the form, a staff member from the Volunteer Management Team will be in touch with you to schedule your volunteer shifts. Looking to volunteer as a group? The Zoo can host corporate volunteer nights, school, and social club volunteer nights. For group volunteering please reach out to pumpkinvolunteer@rwpzoo.org.
What will volunteers be doing during the event?
Volunteers support the Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular by providing a great customer service experience for the guests enjoying the trail. Volunteer duties may include directing visitors, answering frequently asked questions, and monitoring the trail. Please keep in mind that volunteers will be interacting and supporting the visitor experience, so being comfortable working with the public and talking to visitors of all backgrounds and walks of life is required of all volunteers.
What is a volunteer shift like?
Volunteers for the Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular are expected to volunteer from 4:45pm-10:30/11pm during the event. Upon arrival volunteers will be given an orientation and will learn more about the event! Volunteers are then assigned a position for the night. Volunteers will receive breaks and a chance to eat dinner. At the end of the shift, volunteers are dismissed and receive their community service hours or two tickets to the event for volunteering.
What do I get out of volunteering?
As a thank you for volunteering, volunteers will be offered two complimentary tickets at the completion of each shift. Volunteers that would like hours for community service, can receive this at the end of the shift as well in lieu of tickets. If you can volunteer for a shift or two, know that your support makes a difference, as the Zoo relies on hundreds of volunteers throughout the event.
Who can volunteer?
This is an opportunity for our community, and we want everyone who is eligible to be able to help! All volunteers must be 16+, and volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 16 are not eligible to volunteer for this event.
