It’s International Flamingo Day & our Chilean flam It’s International Flamingo Day & our Chilean flamingos are ready for their close-up! 🦩💖 From their gravity-defying one-leg stance to their specialized beaks built for filter feeding, these birds are anything but ordinary.

Protecting Chilean flamingos means protecting entire wetland ecosystems. These iconic birds rely on healthy, balanced habitats to survive, and their presence is a key indicator of environmental health. When we conserve flamingos, we’re also helping safeguard countless other species that share their fragile homes.

Roger Williams Park Zoo is a committed partner of the AZA SAFE Andean Highland Flamingo program, working alongside other accredited zoos and aquariums to help conserve flamingo species and their habitats in the wild.
