Overnight FAQs
We don’t have enough to meet your 25 person minimum. Can we add on to another group?

Roger Williams Park Zoo overnights are designed to be intimate, exclusive experiences.  Your group will be the only one on Zoo grounds.  We do not combine groups that do not know one another. You may design your own group to reach the 25 prior to booking.

Where will we sleep?
Participants sleep in our climate-controlled classrooms on vinyl tile floors.  While the tile is more sanitary than carpet, the sleeping surface is hard.  Participants are strongly encouraged to bring a cushion, sleeping mat or extra blankets.  We do permit twin-size air mattresses or larger air mattresses shared by more than one person.  The Overnight Program Director sleeps nearby and night security monitors Zoo grounds.
Are there shower facilities?

No.  Public restrooms are available, but do not include showers.

What’s for dinner/snack/breakfast?
We offer popcorn as a snack with the movie.  In the morning, there is a variety of cereal, milk and juice. Coffee is available for adults.
Chaperoning adults are welcome to supplement either meal by bringing vegetables, salad and/or fruit – a refrigerator is available.  Any medical or cultural dietary restrictions are the responsibility of chaperones, and should be discussed prior to your overnight.
My child has an allergy/needs to take medication before bed. Who should I speak to?

An individual certified in First Aid and CPR is onsite at all times.  We collect information on participant needs prior to each overnight experience. Zoo staff are well trained in accommodating guests' needs.  All medications are the responsibility of chaperones, and those with food allergies are encouraged to bring their own meal substitutions.

I have a child that is under six years old that would like to attend. Why can’t he/she?

While touring the zoo at night is fun for all ages, sleeping overnight can be intimidating.  More importantly, we form the program for specific ages.  Please consider one of the Zoo’s day education programs or events for younger children.

What happens if it rains?

Zoo Overnights are rain or shine, and outdoor components continue as planned except when safety is of concern.  Participants are always encouraged to bring weather and seasonally appropriate clothing.
