-
Marianapolis Academy: Immersive Conservation During “LEAP Week,” the Zoo hosted high school students for a week-long deep dive into the conservation of endangered species. Moving beyond the classroom, students engaged in fieldwork, specialized tours, and guest speaker sessions. This immersive experience allowed students and faculty to explore wildlife passions in-depth, fostering lifelong curiosity and stronger academic relationships.
-
Lincoln High School: Innovation & Engineering Students in the Career & Technical Education (CTE) program partnered with our team to solve real-world animal care challenges. By researching specific animal needs and collaborating with Zoo keepers, students designed and built custom enrichment items for our bat-eared foxes, military macaws, and white-cheeked gibbons—taking their projects from initial proposal to final delivery.
-
Environmental Justice Academy: Critical Perspectives In this program, middle-schoolers from Sophia Academy and the San Miguel School investigated the interconnectedness of environmental justice, conservation, and social justice. By analyzing the historical roots of conservation and the disproportionate impact of environmental harm on marginalized communities, students developed the critical thinking skills necessary to become the next generation of informed advocates.
