RWPZoo is heartbroken to share the passing of our beloved Gingy, one of our Nigerian dwarf goats. Intelligent, curious, gentle, affectionate, independent and unique - all qualities attributed to goats and best represented by the one and only, Gingy. Gingy was truly special, and so well loved - he even had a fan club of Zoo guests who made their own t-shirts! (See the third picture).

At 10.5 years old, Gingy spent the last 9 years connecting people with animals as an ambassador in our contact yard, doing his favorite activities - being brushed, eating ALL the snacks, climbing up on staff to get the scritches behind his ears, and sitting in the yard with the warm sun on his face.

Our animal care team had been monitoring and treating Gingy for age related arthritis, which impacted his comfort. Based on some recent changes, we had to make the difficult decision to humanely euthanize him. He received all the snacks, visits from every Zoo department, and lots of pets and snuggles from his keepers. Gingy will truly be missed by all! 🧡
