The adventure continues as you head south to the tranquil coastal town of Placencia and the lush Toledo District. Encounter exotic wildlife at the renowned Belize Zoo, trek through the jungle to hear the haunting calls of howler monkeys along the Monkey River, and visit the world’s first jaguar preserve at Cockscomb Basin. For a change of pace, dive into the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean to snorkel along the spectacular Belize Barrier Reef, where colorful coral formations and marine life await. Stacey Johnson, executive director of Roger Williams Park Zoo, has over 35 years of professional Zoo experience. Beginning as a zookeeper in 1987, he quickly advanced to education curator, then animal curator, Director of Conservation Science Programs, and now Executive Director of the Roger Williams Park Zoo. He is active in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and presently serves on the Accreditation Commission and Government Affairs Committee. Stacey is also the Jaguar Species Survival Plan Coordinator, Studbook Keeper, and past Chair of the Animal Population Management Committee and the Bear Taxon Advisory Group.
