Homeschool Offerings

We are excited to once again offer both Digital and In-Person Zoo School Programs programs running once a week beginning in October. Pre-registration is required. See below for session details and stay tuned for information on registration. 

Let the Zoo help support your teaching efforts through programming, resources and events. We design our programs to help families explore, discover and observe the natural world.

Program Offerings & Pricing
Digital Zoo School

Join Roger Williams Park Zoo for a series of virtual classes designed for homeschool students. Pre-registration is required.

Platform: All classes will be facilitated on the Zoom Platform. For the best experience, it is recommended that participants join from a laptop or desktop.

Dates: 8 week session: Tuesdays from October 5th- November 23rd

Theme: Animal Locomotion

Animals move for a variety of reasons, such as to find food, a mate, a suitable habitat, or to escape predators. For many animals, the ability to move is essential for survival. Zoo schoolers will explore

the variety of locomotion methods, mechanisms and structures used by animals to meet their needs.

 

Program Cost: $104

 

6-8 year olds:

Cancellation Policy

Refunds, minus a $15.00 processing fee per child, will be given up to.  No refunds will be made after this date. There is a one-time registration fee for all class dates. We will not prorate for missed classes.

A minimum number of registrants is required to run a class. Families will be notified 48 hours in advance of the first scheduled class and be issued a full refund if a class needs to be cancelled due to low enrollment. 

In-person Zoo School (SOLD OUT)

Join Roger Williams Park Zoo for a series of monthly, hour-long classes, designed for homeschool students. These drop-off classes start in October and run through May. Pre-registration is required.

 

Dates: (first Friday of the month from October 2021- May 2022): October 1st, November 5th, December 3rd, January 7th, February 4th, March 4th, April 1th, May 6th

 

Cost: $104

*Please note: A Roger Williams Park Zoo or Reciprocal Membership is required for all non- Zoo School participants including parents, guardians, and siblings. Without a membership, non- zoo school participants, entering the zoo for drop-off, will be required to pay admission.

Mask Policy

Masking will be required during the following times:

  • Anytime the group is indoors (except during meal/water breaks)
  • Anytime that the group is traveling on zoo grounds (e.g., during zoo tour)
  • Participants and staff will be required to wear a mask within their group outdoors when at least 3 ft of social distance cannot reliably be maintained.
  • Anyone over the age of 2 at Pick Up or Drop Off is also asked to wear a mask while in the pick-up and drop off areas.

Participants and staff will be permitted to remove their masks during the following times:

  • When outdoors and a minimum of 3 ft social distance can be maintained consistently.

 

Screening Policy

Families must fill out a covid screening form the morning before each scheduled program. The form will be emailed to families the morning of each class.

If a child is experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 prior to attending class, or feeling ill at all, we ask that the child is not brought to Zoo School that day.

 

Please note: All masking, distancing and screening policies are subject to change at any time and at the discretion of the Zoo. You will be informed of any policy changes prior to the next scheduled class.

Zoomobile Programs

Through interactive educational presentations and live "animals interviews," the Zoomobile carries a message of compassion for all living things and a greater understanding of our wonder-filled living planet. We will present all of our Zoomobile programs at the Zoo or at your location.

Each program includes a lesson, activity and three live animals. The program is for a seated audience (30 max.).

Pricing:

  • At your Location:
    • Daytime Monday-Friday: $140 for a single program; $100 for each additional program on the same day. (Mileage fee may apply.)
    • Evenings and Weekends: $175 for a single program; $125 for each additional program on the same day. (Mileage fee may apply.)
  • At the Zoo:
    • $13/child (12 and under); $16/child (ages 13+)
    • (Minimum of 15 participants needed for a program at the Zoo.)
